Beaches in Jersey
From vast sandy bays to rocky coves and dramatic surf spots, Jersey boasts an incredibly diverse range of beaches. Jersey has the third-largest tidal range in the world, so beaches can change dramatically between high and low tide. Always check tide times before visiting.
Here’s our pick of the best beaches to visit during your stay, all within easy reach of our hotel.
St Brelade's Bay
Consistently ranked as Jersey’s top beach and one of the best beaches in the UK, St Brelade's Bay is always a good idea. With soft sand, calm waters and a huge range of watersports on offer, there’s plenty for everyone. You’ll find a wide choice of eateries, including seafood and pizza restaurants and takeaways, beach shops and a car park.
St Ouen’s Bay
Stretching along most of Jersey’s west coast, St Ouen’s Bay is Jersey’s longest beach. A popular surf spot, the five-mile-long bay is known for its golden sand, rugged dunes and coastal paths. There are often strong rip tides here, so it’s not a safe spot for swimming, but you can enjoy walking along the beach, stopping at the many cafés and restaurants along the way.
Plemont Bay
Situated on the north west tip of the Island, Plemont Bay is one of Jersey’s most magical beaches, complete with a waterfall. At low tide, you’ll find rock pools and sea caves to explore, and there’s an excellent beach café. Check tide times before visiting, as at high tide, the sand is completely covered.
Beauport Bay
One of Jersey’s hidden gems, Beauport is a sheltered, sandy beach on the south-east coast, perfect for swimming, sandcastle-making and sunbathing. There’s a long, steep climb down and up, making it one of Jersey’s quieter beaches.
Portelet Bay
Known as one of Jersey’s most beautiful beaches, Portelet Bay is scenic and sandy. Located on the south-west coast and accessed by steep steps, it’s ideal for swimming and sunbathing, and if you’re feeling peckish, there’s a seasonal beach café serving delicious wood-fired pizzas.
Grève de Lecq Beach
Located on Jersey’s northern shore, Grève de Lecq Beach is a popular, easily accessible family-friendly destination with plenty of rockpools and nearby cafés. The surrounding cliffs shade the beach in the afternoon, offering the perfect opportunity to book a kayak tour and explore the neighbouring beaches.
Rozel Bay
Located on Jersey’s north-east coast, Rozel Bay is a pretty fishing harbour and sheltered bay offering a small expanse of white sand at low tide and wonderful views of the French coast. It’s a lovely spot for relaxing and soaking up the scenery.
